On Dante, And His Legacy

From the beginning of #thepaxseries we've known the constant story of a tortured man, driven through hell and back, and then back again. Someone who has witnessed the murder of everyone he knows and cares about, and yet he still survives.

If you're following the brand new write-up of NETHERBOUND in the rough drafting serial I'm working on (free for all to read as its written), you'll notice that Dante is no longer in the driver seat and, so far, there is only mention of his name as the commanding officer of a ship.

This is due to my own real-life issues that I've been experiencing the past few years since the end of Escape Velocity. Having been in transition for three years, and becoming completely disconnected from the person I used to be; so different that I can look back and I don't recognize who that was anymore. And that's how it feels when I try to write from Dante's perspective anymore. It's one of the many reasons that NETHERBOUND was on hiatus for so long.

The biggest thing I regret though, is deleting most of the blogging and marketing efforts I made over the course of the first and second book. So I really feel like I'm back to square one, even though I'm currently writing the third book.

On the side of Dante, no, the character and the idea of him are not dead and gone just yet. There is something coming, but I cannot say exactly what that something is without spoiling a major plot point! This means that, if you've been following this storyline since the beginning of PaxCorpus and you're wondering whether or not you'll get closure or even just answers as to what happened at the end of Escape Velocity, who or what that voice in Dante's head is/was and what happened to Julianna Moretti.
